Medicine Hat, AB — In their first visit ever to the Langley Events Centre, the Medicine Hat Tigers fell 5-4 in a hard-fought battle against the Vancouver Giants.

The Tabbies fired 19 shots towards David Tendeck in the opening period, Tendeck stood tall turning away all 19 shots. Tyler Popowich opened the scoring for the Giants putting a rebound past Jordan Hollett giving Vancouver a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

The Tigers started to generate offensive chances as Dalton Gally broke through tying the game at 1-1. Gally blasted a point shot that found twine. The Giants answered right back with a pair of goals from Bowen Byram and Ty Ronning restoring Vancouver’s 2 goal lead. On the next play Hollett made an excellent pad save off Ty Ronning, he seemed to be in some discomfort as he would exit the game after making 19 saves. Michael Bullion took over in the crease the rest of the way. Elijah’s Brown’s shot rang off the post as the puck came out in front of the net to Gary Haden as he tapped the puck into the net. The Tigers continuous offensive pressure was again reward. Brown found the back of the net off a nice cross-crease pass from Jaeger White tieing the game at 3-3. Michael Bullion turned aside all 7 shots he faced to close out the wild period.

The roller coaster ride of a game continued into the 3rd period. Dawson Holt gave the Giants the lead back off a rebound past Michael Bullion into the final frame. Dylan MacPherson’s shot from the blueline found its way through a maze of players knotting this game at 4-4. With less than 3 minutes remaining in the game Alex Kannok Leipert beat Bullion. The Giants would hold on for a 5-4 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers.

The Tabbies are now 26-22-7-0 and will travel back to the Canalta Center to play the Edmonton Oil Kings on Wednesday, February 7th puck drop is at 7:00pm.
